Cosmic Voyage was written on commission by Kenyon Wilson and is to this day, one of Mike Forbes most often played compositions. While it was originally conceived of as a large tuba/euphonium ensemble piece, it is also often played by quartets and can be heard on Sotto Voce's recording, "Refractions." There is also a work for band by Forbes called, "Cosmic Winds" that borrows heavily from the material in this quartet.
