In this combined ensembles work for band, orchestra, and choir, Mike Forbes sets a dramatic text by Chloe Kofman regarding the dilemma of online usage by teens today. This grade 3.5 work is an excellent way to bring all of your school ensembles together in a meaningful and dramatic way for an end of semester gala concert. There are also versions for orchestra & choir as well as band & optional choir/narrator available.
The choir text is as follows: "We filter our pictures, but not our words. Retweets and likes dictate our self-worth. Words so easily misconstrued, rumors that aren't true; our cameras see more than our eyes ever do. Insults hurled like arrow across hyperspace, of course it's easier to type a reply than to speak face-to-face. Logged in and tuned out in social media shells, taking hundreds of selfies but no real time for ourselves. Take a minute and imagine a world where people knew that a heart emoji can never mean as much as 'I love you.' If only we would all just look around and see, technology has storage space...but we have memory."
