*Imitative Polyphone Suite (Brass Quartet), Scheidt, Gasparini, and Gabrieli, arr. Forbes
In this suite arranged by Mike Forbes for 2 B-flat Trumpets, Trombone (F Hn. Subst.), and Tuba, one is given three works that follow a motive through the Renaissance style of "imitative polyphony." The Suite contains Samuel Scheidt's "Canzon," Quirino Gasparini's devastatingly beautiful, "Adoramus te, Christe," and the famous "Canzona per sonare. No. 2" by Giovanni Gabrieli. A wonderful prelude set for a church service.
